Treatment of herpes simplex virus infections
This medication is used to treat herpes simplex virus infections, particularly for initial and recurring genital herpes and cold sores. It helps alleviate symptoms in patients and suppress the spread of the virus. Effectively reduces vesicles and pain caused by viral infections, promoting recovery. This treatment contributes to symptom relief and prevention of recurrence. Therefore, this drug is used in the management of herpes simplex related infections.
This medication should be applied to the affected area 5 times a day at approximately 4-hour intervals. Treatment should continue for 5 days, and it can be used for an additional 5 days if not healed after 5 days of use.
This medication should not be used in certain patients. First, it should not be administered to patients with allergies or hypersensitive reactions to this medication or its components. Furthermore, it is advisable not to use this medication in breastfeeding women and children. Caution is required when using this medication in patients with weakened immune systems, such as those with AIDS or who have received a bone marrow transplant. This medication contains a component called propylene glycol, so individuals with allergies or hypersensitivity to this component should be careful. Side effects may occur during use. In particular, applying this medication to lesions in the genital area may cause pain or discomfort. Temporary burning sensations or pain, dermatitis, rashes, itching, and sometimes redness or swelling of the skin may occur. Treatment should be started as soon as possible when symptoms begin, and it is preferable to use it immediately when initial symptoms or lesions appear in cases of frequent recurrence. The prescribed dosage and administration should be strictly adhered to, and it should not be used in individuals without symptoms. Also, this medication is not intended to prevent transmission to others or prevent recurrence. Do not mix or dilute this medication with other drugs, and while the possibility of developing resistance is low, it cannot be completely ruled out. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should be cautious when using this medication, and it is recommended to discontinue breastfeeding while using this medication. This medication should only be used externally, and care should be taken to avoid applying it to the eyes or mucous membranes, as irritation may occur. It is also advisable to wear gloves or finger cots while applying the medication to prevent it from spreading to the hands or other areas.
