Relief of gastrointestinal and biliary pain, urinary and gynecological spasmodic pain; adjunctive treatment of contractions during pregnancy
This medication is used to relieve cramps and pain occurring in the urinary tract, gastrointestinal tract, biliary system, and gynecological conditions. It is effective for spasmodic pain in the urinary tract, such as nephritic colic, as well as pain due to gastrointestinal and biliary functional disorders. It also helps reduce spasmodic pain in gynecological conditions and assists in alleviating uterine contractions occurring during pregnancy. These effects improve patients' discomfort and contribute to pain relief.
Adults: At the onset of symptoms, take 160 mg of phloroglucinol orally after dissolving it in a glass of water or placing it under the tongue. The dose may be increased or decreased as appropriate depending on age and symptoms.
Children: Dissolve 80 mg per dose in a glass of water and administer twice daily.
This medication contains aspartame, an artificial sweetener. Aspartame is broken down into phenylalanine in the body, so it should not be used by patients with a genetic disorder called phenylketonuria. The amount of aspartame in this medication should be managed to not exceed the World Health Organization (WHO) recommended daily maximum intake. For example, for an adult weighing 60 kg, it is safe to consume up to 2.4g per day. Additionally, since this medication contains lactose, it should not be used by patients with genetic problems such as galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption. During use, gastrointestinal abnormalities such as nausea or dry mouth may rarely occur, and if these symptoms arise, measures such as reducing the dosage or temporarily discontinuing use should be taken. Allergic reactions on the skin or severe skin conditions such as acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis may occur, so if any skin abnormalities arise, it is essential to consult a physician immediately. Nausea or blurred vision may rarely occur, and it is advisable to discontinue use and seek professional help if these symptoms appear. This medication has a calming effect on the nerves and should not be used in conjunction with pain relievers like morphine. If taking other medications, it is essential to inform your doctor or pharmacist. It is safest for women in the first three months of pregnancy or those who may become pregnant to avoid this medication, and it is also recommended that nursing women refrain from using this medication.
