Adult dose
To achieve maximum benefit, determine the dose individually. The usual daily doses listed below are suitable for most patients, but higher doses may be required. In such cases, increase the dose slowly to avoid adverse effects. The risk of dependence may increase with dose and duration of treatment. Therefore, administer the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible period and frequently reassess the need for continued treatment. ○ Adults 1. Initiate treatment with 0.25-0.5㎎ of alprazolam per dose 3 times daily; the maximum dose is 4㎎ daily. For elderly patients, patients with hepatic impairment, and debilitated patients, initiate treatment with 0.25㎎ per dose 2-3 times daily. Reduce the dose if adverse effects occur at the initial dose. 2. Psychosomatic disorders Administer 1.2㎎ of this drug daily orally in 3 divided doses. If increasing the dose, slowly increase to a maximum of 2.4㎎ daily, administered orally in 3-4 divided doses. For elderly patients, initiate treatment with 0.4㎎ per dose 1-2 times daily; the maximum dose is 1.2㎎ daily. 3. Panic disorder Use 0.5㎎ of this drug as the initial dose and, according to the patient's response, increase by no more than 1㎎ at intervals of 3-4 days to an average daily dose of 5-6㎎, divided into 3-4 doses. To discontinue treatment, reduce the dose by no more than 0.5㎎ at intervals of 3 days; an even lower dose may be required.

This drug acts as a central nervous system depressant as it is a benzodiazepine. Caution is required when taken with narcotics, as it may lead to severe sedation or respiratory depression, potentially resulting in coma or death. This drug has a risk of abuse and dependence, so it should only be used for the appropriate dosage and duration as prescribed by a physician. Patients with allergic reactions to this drug or certain diseases, such as acute closed-angle glaucoma, severe myasthenia gravis, severe respiratory failure, or severe liver dysfunction, should not take it. Combining this medication with other central nervous system depressants or alcohol may enhance its effects, posing risks, so it should be avoided or closely monitored.
