How to take

Adult dose

Adults: Administer 50 mg of sumatriptan orally as a single dose. However, some patients may require an oral dose of 100 mg. If symptoms recur after the initial dose, it may be re-administered; however, the interval must be at least 2 hours, and the total dose should not exceed 300 mg within 24 hours. Patients who do not respond to the prescribed dose should not be re-dosed for the same attack.

Precautions

This medication is used for the treatment of migraines. Mild side effects

Pain, tenderness, warmth, cold sensation, pressure sensation, feeling of squeezing or tightness in any part of the body, flushing, dizziness, weakness, fatigue, drowsiness, cramps, abnormal sensations, decreased sensation, phonophobia, photophobia, confusion, depression, decreased concentration, olfactory disorders, speech disorders, euphoric states, facial pain, heat sensitivity, ataxia, tearing, unilateral paralysis, sleep disturbances, syncope, tremors, aggression, apathy, cluster headaches
