Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. It should not be taken by anyone who is allergic to this medication or any of its components. Women who are pregnant, may become pregnant, or breastfeeding should also not take this medication. Patients with severe liver dysfunction may experience slower breakdown of this medication, which could lead to increased levels in the body and pose a risk. Patients taking the medication Rifampin should not use this medication together, as it can significantly reduce its effectiveness. Patients taking the anticonvulsants Phenobarbital, Phenytoin, or Carbamazepine should also avoid taking this medication as it may decrease its effectiveness. This medication contains lactose, so patients with lactose intolerance or certain genetic metabolic disorders should not take it. Additionally, there are cases where this medication should be used with caution. Patients with cerebral edema or elevated intracranial pressure should be carefully monitored when using this medication. Patients with impaired liver or kidney function may require dosage adjustments due to a higher risk of side effects such as blood pressure drops. Patients with low blood pressure should also take caution when using this medication. As this medication is metabolized by certain liver enzymes (Cytochrome P450 3A4), co-administration with other drugs that affect this enzyme's activity may alter blood levels, necessitating caution. This medication can cause gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, upset stomach, and rarely, intestinal obstruction. In the central nervous system, symptoms can include headache, dizziness, drowsiness, insomnia, and restlessness. Blood pressure may drop, blood vessels may dilate, causing facial flushing and swelling, and irregular heartbeats may occur. Rarely, blood-related abnormalities such as thrombocytopenia may develop. Occasionally, hypersensitivity reactions such as skin rashes can occur, so patients should consult medical staff immediately if symptoms arise. During treatment with this medication, dizziness may occur; therefore, caution should be exercised when driving or operating dangerous machinery. Patients with elevated intracranial pressure require closer observation when using this medication. This medication interacts with several drugs, so if patients are taking other medications, they must inform their healthcare provider. Particular caution is warranted when used with antihypertensive drugs, as it may cause blood pressure to drop excessively. Grapefruit juice may increase blood levels of this medication, raising the risk of side effects, so it should not be taken together. The safety of this medication during pregnancy has not been established, and since it is excreted in breast milk, it is advisable to avoid using it while breastfeeding; if necessary, breastfeeding should be discontinued. The safety and efficacy of this medication in pediatric patients have not been adequately established, so caution should be exercised when administering it to children. In elderly patients with severe renal or cardiac dysfunction, careful consideration should be given to the use of this medication, and regular monitoring is required. In cases of overdose, symptoms may include low blood pressure, heart rhythm abnormalities, gastrointestinal discomfort, and neurological symptoms. Immediate discontinuation of the medication and emergency treatment are necessary. This medication acts to dilate cerebral blood vessels and improve cerebral blood flow and can help reduce neurological damage and mortality in patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage. Keep this medication out of the reach of children, and store it in its original container to prevent misuse and quality degradation.
