Perinal Tablet (Domperidone Maleate)

Adult dose

Adults: Administer 10 mg of domperidone (5 mg when levodopa is administered) orally 3 times daily before meals. The maximum daily dose is 30mg. In general, do not use for more than 1 week.

Child dose

Adolescents (12 years and older, weighing at least 35kg): Administer 10 mg of domperidone (5 mg when levodopa is administered) orally 3 times daily before meals. The maximum daily dose is 30mg.

This medication should not be used by certain patients. For example, patients who are allergic to the components of this medication, or have gastrointestinal bleeding, mechanical obstruction, perforation, etc., should not take it. Additionally, patients with prolactin-secreting tumors, or those taking strong CYP3A4 inhibitors or drugs that prolong the QTc interval may be at risk if they use this medication. Patients with moderate to severe liver dysfunction or women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should also avoid this medication. Patients with heart diseases such as prolonged cardiac conduction interval, electrolyte imbalance, or heart failure should not use this medication. Patients with genetic issues such as lactose intolerance or glucose/galactose malabsorption should avoid certain formulations of this medication. Careful administration is required for children, patients with kidney impairment or mild liver impairment, elderly patients, and those with heart disease. Various side effects such as dry mouth, drowsiness, headache, diarrhea, and excessive milk secretion may occur when taking this medication. Rarely, serious side effects such as anaphylaxis, dizziness, seizures, arrhythmias, and skin rashes have been reported. Since it is primarily metabolized in the liver, caution is required for patients with liver damage, and dosage adjustment is necessary for patients with severely impaired kidney function. This medication can cause drowsiness and dizziness, so caution should be exercised during activities requiring mental concentration such as driving or operating machinery. There may be an increased risk of cardiac arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death, so patients over 60 years old or those with heart disease should consult a doctor before taking this medication. This medication can interact with various drugs, so if other medications are being taken, it is essential to inform healthcare professionals, and combination with some drugs is prohibited. It is recommended that pregnant or breastfeeding women avoid taking this medication, and caution should be taken while breastfeeding, as side effects may appear in the baby. In the case of overdose, neurological symptoms and cardiac problems may occur, so immediate medical attention is required, and ECG monitoring may be necessary. Keep out of reach of children and store in the original container to prevent misuse or degradation of quality.
