This medication is effective for upper gastrointestinal bleeding due to gastric and duodenal ulcers, anastomotic ulcers, as well as peptic ulcers and acute stress ulcers. It also treats bleeding caused by hemorrhagic gastritis and is used for gastroesophageal reflux disease and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It helps improve lesions such as erosion, bleeding, redness, and swelling of the gastric mucosa that appear during acute exacerbations of acute gastritis and chronic gastritis. This medication protects the gastric mucosa and alleviates symptoms by treating damaged areas. It is effectively used across a variety of gastrointestinal diseases.

Precautions

This medication should not be used by those who have had allergic reactions to the ingredients or similar types of medications. Patients with a history of allergies or impaired kidney function should use this medication with caution. In cases of poor kidney function, the dosage should be reduced or the interval between doses increased. Individuals with heart disease should also be cautious when using this medication, as it may cause heart-related issues. Patients with impaired liver function should use this medication carefully, as symptoms may worsen. Older adults tend to have decreased kidney function, which may lead to increased drug concentration, thus requiring dosage adjustment or extended intervals. This medication may rarely cause serious allergic reactions, blood disorders, skin diseases, liver dysfunction, muscle damage, heart rhythm problems, consciousness disturbances, nephritis or renal failure, pneumonia, and other side effects; therefore, if any unusual symptoms occur, immediate consultation with a healthcare provider is necessary. Common side effects may include rash, hives, changes in blood counts, indigestion, changes in blood pressure, respiratory issues, liver function abnormalities, psychiatric and neurological symptoms. During treatment, symptoms should be closely monitored, and it is important not to use excessive amounts of the medication, while also undergoing regular blood tests and liver and kidney function tests. This medication dissolves in the mouth but is not absorbed through the oral mucosa, so it should be swallowed with water or saliva. Patients undergoing hemodialysis should be cautious when using this medication along with certain phosphate binders, as it may reduce the effectiveness of calcium preparations. There may be interactions with other medications, particularly when used alongside some antifungal or anticancer agents, which can diminish the effectiveness of this medication or cause adverse effects. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should carefully weigh the benefits and risks of using this medication, and breastfeeding mothers are advised to stop breastfeeding to prevent drug transmission via breast milk. The safety of this medication has not been adequately confirmed for use in children, so it is not recommended. The orally disintegrating form of this medication should be placed on the tongue and swallowed after dissolving with saliva; it should not be taken while lying down without water. Additionally, this medication may mask the symptoms of gastric cancer, so it should only be used after confirming the benignity of any masses.
