Treatment of hypertension, angina, and arrhythmia
This medication is used for the treatment of angina, arrhythmia, essential hypertension (mild to moderate), and renovascular hypertension in oral form. In injectable form, it is used for the treatment of angina, arrhythmia, and hypertensive emergencies. It mainly helps manage heart and blood pressure issues, thereby improving symptoms of cardiovascular diseases.

(Oral: extended-release tablets/capsules) Adults: As the initial dose, administer 180㎎ or 240㎎ of verapamil hydrochloride once daily orally with breakfast. If the effect is inadequate, the daily dose may be divided into 2 doses (morning and evening) as prescribed by a physician, within the maximum daily dose of 480㎎. Adjust the dose as appropriate according to age and symptoms. (Injection) Adults: Slowly administer 5-10㎎ of verapamil hydrochloride per dose by intravenous injection. The dose may be repeated as needed. Adjust the dose as appropriate according to age and symptoms.
This medication acts on the heart and blood vessels and should not be administered to patients with severe specific heart diseases. In particular, it should not be used in patients with severe heart failure, issues with heart rhythm, very low blood pressure, or pregnant women. Patients who are allergic to this medication or are taking other drugs that interact with it should also exercise caution. Patients with poor liver or kidney function may be affected by drug metabolism and excretion, thus requiring dosage adjustment and careful monitoring. Patients with muscle and nerve issues may also experience worsening of symptoms due to this medication. This medication can slow down heart rate or lower blood pressure, potentially causing dizziness or symptoms of hypotension. Regular ECG monitoring is needed in patients with conduction disturbances, and treatment should be discontinued if abnormalities are found. Abrupt discontinuation of this medication may worsen symptoms, so it should be reduced gradually under medical supervision. There are many drug interactions, so it is essential to consult with healthcare providers as side effects may increase or efficacy may change depending on concomitant medications. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should avoid using this medication as it can affect the fetus or baby, or they should stop breastfeeding. Children and the elderly require special attention as the safety and efficacy of this medication have not been sufficiently established or the risk of side effects is high. In case of overdose, serious symptoms such as severe hypotension, arrhythmias, and altered consciousness may occur, necessitating immediate emergency treatment. This medication may reduce concentration and reaction speed while driving or operating machinery, so caution is advised, especially at the start of treatment or when dosage is changed, and particularly when taken with alcohol.
