How to apply drops

Adult eye dose

(Eye Ointment) Apply a small amount 1-3 times a day. Gradually reduce to once a day over several days if symptoms improve. Adjust based on symptoms. (Eye Drops) Instill 1-2 drops 3-4 times a day. In severe cases, instill 1-2 drops every hour and reduce when symptoms improve. Adjust based on symptoms.

Precautions

This medication is an eye drop used to reduce inflammation and belongs to the class of steroid drugs. It should not be used in patients with untreated bacterial infections or viral keratitis and conjunctival diseases. Additionally, patients with superficial herpes simplex keratitis, fungal eye diseases, untreated parasitic infections, and tuberculosis-related eye diseases should not use this medication. Individuals who are allergic to the active ingredient or any component of the formulation, those with damaged corneal epithelium or ulcers, and patients with glaucoma should also avoid this medication. Special care is needed for infants under 2 years old, and consultation with a doctor is mandatory before use. Long-term use may increase intraocular pressure leading to glaucoma, so regular eye pressure checks are necessary, especially as children may experience quicker increases in intraocular pressure. Conditions such as herpetic keratitis, fungal keratitis, and purulent infections may occur, and if these symptoms arise, the medication should be discontinued, and a doctor consulted. Prolonged use may also result in rare side effects such as posterior capsule cataract or corneal softening. Wounds on the skin may heal slowly, and there is a risk of suppression of endocrine function, so caution is advised. Upon application, temporary eye pain, irritation, or burning sensations may occur; if these symptoms are severe, use should be stopped. The risk of infection may increase, so caution is required if there are signs of infection around the eyes or ears. This medication contains phosphate, which can rarely lead to corneal calcification in cases of severe corneal damage. Using this medication on red eyes without a doctor's prescription may result in vision loss, so it must be used under a healthcare professional’s guidance. For prolonged use beyond 10 days, regular checks of eye pressure and lens condition should be conducted, and for those with a history of herpes, frequent examinations are necessary to prevent worsening of herpetic keratitis. If inflammation or pain persists or worsens for more than 48 hours, use must be stopped immediately, and a doctor should be consulted. Vision may temporarily blur after application, so it is safer to avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery. If infected with chickenpox or measles during this medication use, serious complications may arise, hence verifying vaccination history and seeking treatment upon infection is vital. Contact lens wearers must remove their lenses before using this medication and can only reinsert them 15 minutes post-application, taking care as soft lenses may discolor. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should not use this medication, and nursing mothers should consult a healthcare professional as it may affect the infant. Elderly patients should be particularly cautious as physical functions may be declining. In case of overdose, rinse the eyes with lukewarm water, and note that prolonged use may cause systemic side effects, thus caution is advised. This product is for ophthalmic use only; prior to use, shake well and ensure the tip of the container does not come into direct contact with the eye. To prevent contamination, avoid sharing, and if using with other eye drops, maintain at least a 5-minute interval between them, applying ointments last. Storage should be in a sealed container, away from children's reach, in a cool and dry place, protected from direct sunlight, and do not transfer the contents to another container. When not in use, ensure the cap is tightly closed and store the bottle upright.
