Precautions

This medication should not be used in doses exceeding 7.5 grams per day. Patients with severe hypercalcemia or hypercalciuria, primary hyperparathyroidism or hypothyroidism, severe renal dysfunction, and patients with low gastric acid or achlorhydria should not use this medication. Patients with impaired renal function, heart or lung issues, constipation, or those taking other medications should use this medication with caution. While taking this medication, gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, constipation, or diarrhea may occur, and rarely, excessive gastric acid secretion may occur. Long-term use of high doses may increase blood calcium levels or cause alkalosis. There is also a risk of developing kidney stones or urinary stones, so caution is needed. Allergic reactions such as itching may occur. It is important to adhere to the prescribed dosage and administration, and when administering to a child, supervision by a guardian is required. If symptoms do not improve after taking the medication for about 2 weeks, discontinue use and consult a doctor or pharmacist. This medication may interfere with the absorption of tetracycline antibiotics, so it is recommended not to take them together. Additionally, this medication may alter the environment in the gastrointestinal tract, affecting the absorption or excretion of other medications, so caution is necessary. Taking it with large quantities of milk may result in milk-alkali syndrome, so symptoms should be closely monitored, and if any abnormalities occur, use should be stopped. When taking alongside vitamin D or specific diuretics, there is a risk of increased blood calcium levels, so caution is required. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and kept in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
