This medication is used for the treatment of infections caused by the herpes simplex virus, particularly for the initial and recurrent genital herpes and herpes labialis.

How to apply

Adult use

Apply this medication to the affected area five times a day at approximately four-hour intervals. Treatment should continue for five days, and if not healed after five days of use, it can be used for an additional five days.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. First, individuals who are allergic or have had hypersensitivity reactions to this medication or its components should not use it. Additionally, this medication should not be administered to breastfeeding women and children. Caution should be exercised when using this medication in patients with weakened immune systems, such as AIDS patients or those who have undergone bone marrow transplants. Moreover, as this medication contains propyleneglycol, individuals with allergies or hypersensitivity reactions to this ingredient should exercise caution. Using this medication may cause pain or discomfort in the genital area when ulcers are present. Temporary burning sensations, mild pain, dermatitis, rashes, itching, skin irritation, and sometimes allergic reactions such as facial swelling or skin depigmentation and hives may occur. Treatment should be initiated as soon as possible when symptoms first appear, and the prescribed dosage and duration of administration must be strictly followed. It is advisable not to use this medication when symptoms are absent or for preventive purposes. This medication should not be mixed or diluted with other medications, and the possibility of resistance cannot be completely ruled out. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should carefully consider the benefits and risks of using this medication, and it is advisable not to use this medication while breastfeeding, as animal studies have shown the potential for fetal effects. The safety and efficacy of this medication have not been sufficiently proven in children, so it is advisable not to use it in this population. This medication is for topical application only and should not be applied to mucous membranes such as the eyes, mouth, or vagina, as it may cause irritation.
