Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with a history of allergy or hypersensitivity to quinolone antibiotics. When using this medication, severe allergic reactions such as shock may rarely occur; if symptoms such as nausea, cold extremities, or difficulty breathing appear, usage should be immediately discontinued, and appropriate treatment should be received. Additionally, symptoms of hypersensitivity may occur, such as palpitations, angioedema, difficulty breathing, rashes, hives, itching, and swelling around the eyes; medication should be stopped if these symptoms arise. When used in the eyes, there may be temporary sensations of burning, irritation, or discomfort, with possible redness, itching, tearing, dryness, or blurred vision. In more severe cases, serious eye diseases such as keratitis or toxic epidermal necrolysis can develop, so usage should be stopped immediately if symptoms worsen. Hearing impairment or other irritation symptoms have also rarely been reported, so caution is advised should these symptoms arise. To prevent the development of resistant strains, this medication should only be used for the minimum required duration after checking the susceptibility of the infectious bacteria, and long-term use should be avoided due to the risk of overgrowth of non-susceptible bacteria such as fungi. Particularly in the treatment of trachoma, it should generally be used for 8 weeks, and careful consideration is necessary if prolonged administration is required. During treatment, wearing soft contact lenses should be avoided, especially when using formulations that contain benzalkonium chloride. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use this medication if the benefits outweigh the risks, as its safety during pregnancy has not been established. During breastfeeding, it is recommended to either discontinue breastfeeding during medication use or to stop using the drug. In infants under 1 year of age, it is preferable not to use this medication as its safety and efficacy have not been established. This medication is an eye drop solution, and care should be taken to avoid direct contact of the container tip with the eye, and it is advisable not to share it with others to prevent contamination. For storage, keep out of reach of children, avoid direct sunlight, and store in a cool, dry place. Additionally, it is important not to transfer it to another container to maintain its quality.
