Precautions

This medication is a glass ampule injection, so care must be taken while opening the container to avoid mixing glass fragments. Special caution is needed when using it for children or the elderly. It should not be administered to patients with impaired kidney function, those in a comatose state, patients with high serum magnesium levels, or patients with cardiac conduction disorders or myasthenia gravis. It should also be administered with caution to children with intestinal parasitic diseases and patients with heart disease. When using this medication, gastrointestinal symptoms such as vomiting or dry mouth may occur, and rarely symptoms such as cardiac arrhythmia, vasodilation, headache, and tremors may be observed. In case of overdose, symptoms of magnesium toxicity such as warmth, thirst, low blood pressure, and difficulty breathing may occur, so caution is advised. In such cases, calcium preparations can be administered intravenously for detoxification. When used in conjunction with other medications, there may be interactions, so special caution should be taken when taken with central nervous system depressants. It is used in pregnant women for the treatment of eclampsia but may affect the fetus, so continuous observation of the fetal condition is required, and the use should be avoided during labor and for a certain period after delivery. During breastfeeding, its safety has not been established, so it is advisable not to use it unless necessary. The elderly may have decreased bodily functions, so it is important to use it carefully at a slower infusion rate and reduced dosage. Serious side effects may occur in case of overdose, so immediately stop administration and consult a healthcare professional if symptoms arise. This medication should be slowly injected at a concentration of 10% or less intravenously, and mixing with other medications should be avoided due to the possibility of precipitate formation. Before use, be sure to disinfect the injection site and equipment, and use it immediately after opening; any remaining medication should not be reused.
