How to take

Adult dose

As cilostazol, the usual adult dosage is 100 mg orally twice a day. It may be adjusted appropriately based on age and symptoms.

Precautions

This drug is effective in improving blood circulation and inhibiting platelet aggregation, thus preventing recurrence of vascular diseases such as cerebral infarction. When taking this medication, the heart rate may increase, resulting in symptoms related to the heart such as angina, so it is important to closely monitor for symptoms like chest pain. This drug should not be administered to patients at risk of bleeding, such as those with hemophilia, those who have recently experienced a hemorrhagic stroke, and those with active peptic ulcers. Patients with congestive heart failure, those who have had hypersensitivity reactions to this drug, pregnant women or women of childbearing potential, and nursing mothers should also refrain from taking this medication. Patients currently on anticoagulants, antiplatelet agents, thrombolytics, etc., should be particularly cautious when using this drug due to an increased risk of bleeding. Women during menstruation should also take caution due to the risk of bleeding. Patients with heart disease or severely impaired renal and liver functions, diabetic patients, and hypertensive patients need special attention when taking this medication. This drug can cause various adverse reactions, including bleeding tendencies, decreased blood cell counts, interstitial pneumonia, and heart abnormalities, and any unusual symptoms should be immediately reported to a healthcare provider. Symptoms such as dizziness, headaches, indigestion, skin rashes, and palpitations have also been reported, so one should be vigilant for these symptoms while taking the medication. Because this drug is metabolized in the liver, the blood concentration might change when taken with certain drugs, necessitating dosage adjustments or caution during co-administration. Pregnant or nursing women should not take this medication, and children or the elderly may require dosage adjustments based on their physiological functions. In case of overdose, symptoms such as headaches, diarrhea, hypotension, and tachycardia may occur, so the dosage should be strictly adhered to, and immediate medical attention should be sought if abnormal symptoms appear. Finally, this medication may cause dizziness during driving or operation of machinery, so caution is advised.
