Adjunct treatment for insomnia and sedative effect

Adults: Doxylamine succinate 25 mg should be taken orally once a day, 30 minutes before sleep. The dosage may be adjusted appropriately based on age and symptoms.
This medication should not be used in patients with respiratory disorders such as emphysema, chronic bronchitis, or asthma. It is also advisable not to administer this medication to patients with glaucoma. Patients with prostate enlargement should not take this medication. Women who are pregnant or nursing should not use this medication. This medication is not to be administered to children under 15 years of age. Since this medication contains lactose, patients with genetic conditions such as galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take this medication. There may occasionally be side effects due to anticholinergic effects when taking this medication. If excessive daytime drowsiness occurs during treatment, it may be necessary to reduce the dose of the medication. If taken with other medications or used for more than two weeks, it is essential to consult a doctor or pharmacist. This medication can cause drowsiness, so it is safest to take it primarily before bedtime. It is advisable to avoid dangerous activities such as high-altitude work or driving a car due to excessive sedation. Do not take this medication after drinking or while drinking alcohol. When taken with imipramine antidepressants, anticholinergic agents, or disopyramide, the risk of side effects such as urinary retention or constipation can increase, so caution is warranted. It is important to store this medication in a safe place, out of the reach of children.
