Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

1. Hypertension: As atenolol, take 50 mg once daily alone or in combination with a diuretic (thiazide type) orally. If no effect is observed within 1-2 weeks, increase to 100 mg once daily. Do not exceed 100 mg per day. 2. Angina: Take 100 mg once daily divided into 1-2 doses, and do not exceed 100 mg per day. 3. Patients with renal impairment: Creatinine clearance 15-35 mL/min.

Precautions

This medication should not be used by patients with certain diseases or conditions. For instance, those who are allergic to the active ingredient or excipients, those with severe bronchial asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, those with excessively slow heart rate, severe hypotension, or heart failure should not use it. Additionally, patients with diabetic ketoacidosis or metabolic acidosis, right heart failure due to pulmonary hypertension, thyroid dysfunction, or certain genetic metabolic disorders should also avoid it. This medication should be used cautiously in patients with bronchial asthma or heart failure, diabetes, poor liver or kidney function, and the elderly. In these cases, patients' conditions should be closely monitored, and appropriate measures should be taken if necessary. While taking this medication, side effects such as skin rashes, itching, dry eyes or vision changes, irregular heartbeats, low blood pressure, mental changes, gastrointestinal discomfort, and breathing difficulties may occur, so if any unusual symptoms occur, consult a doctor immediately. Regular checks on heart function, blood pressure, and pulse are important during long-term use. Sudden discontinuation of this medication may worsen heart symptoms, so doses should be gradually reduced under the supervision of a physician. Patients scheduled for surgery should discontinue this medication 24 hours prior to surgery, and caution is needed during anesthesia. This medication may cause dizziness or drowsiness while driving or operating machinery, so caution is advised. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should consult a doctor before taking this medication as it may affect the fetus or newborn. Safety in pediatrics has not been fully established, so it should be used cautiously. The elderly should start at a lower dose and use it carefully, ensuring that blood pressure does not drop too low.
