Peridex Ointment (Dexamethasone)

Adult dosage

Apply an appropriate amount to the affected area 1 to several times a day. Adjust according to age and symptoms.

This medication should not be used in patients with tuberculosis, viral infections, or purulent infections in the oral cavity. It should also be avoided by patients who have previously shown allergic reactions to this drug. When using this medication, one should be cautious as fungal or bacterial infections may develop in the mouth, and appropriate antifungal or antibacterial drugs should be used if such symptoms arise. If symptoms do not improve, use should be discontinued. If any allergic symptoms occur, use should be stopped immediately. Prolonged use may suppress pituitary and adrenal functions, so caution is advised. Additionally, blurred vision may occur rarely. It is advisable not to eat immediately after using this medication. It should not be used for ophthalmic purposes. Vision impairments have been reported due to the use of corticosteroid medications, so if blurred vision or other visual problems occur, a consultation with an ophthalmologist should be sought. In such cases, rare conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, or central serous chorioretinopathy should also be evaluated. It is safest for pregnant women and women who may become pregnant to avoid prolonged use of this medication. Caution should be exercised when using it for a long time in children or adolescents, as growth disorders may occur. In the elderly, side effects may occur more easily, so careful management is required when using large amounts or for extended periods.

This medication may be sensitive to light and should be stored in a container that blocks light. Additionally, it is best to store the medication at room temperature, between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius. Proper storage will help maintain the drug's effectiveness safely.
