This medication is used for the treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers, anastomotic ulcers, upper gastrointestinal bleeding, and acute stress ulcers. It is also effective in suppressing bleeding due to hemorrhagic gastritis and alleviating the symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It helps improve gastric mucosal lesions occurring during acute exacerbations of acute gastritis and chronic gastritis to support gastric health. As an injectable, it is used not only for upper gastrointestinal bleeding but also for pre-anesthetic medication to stabilize the patient's condition. Overall, it is employed to effectively improve and treat symptoms of gastrointestinal diseases.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients allergic to specific ingredients or in those with a genetic problem of lactose intolerance. Patients sensitive to medications, those with kidney or liver dysfunction, patients with heart diseases, and elderly individuals should use this medicine with special caution. This medication can cause severe allergic reactions, blood disorders, serious symptoms on the skin and mucous membranes, liver dysfunction or muscle damage, cardiac rhythm abnormalities, and consciousness disturbances. If any unusual symptoms occur, use should be discontinued immediately and a doctor should be consulted. During treatment, the therapeutic effects and side effects should be monitored closely, and regular blood tests, liver, and kidney function tests should be conducted. This medication is designed to dissolve in the mouth but must be swallowed with saliva or water; it is not absorbed directly from the oral mucosa. There may be interactions with other medications, specifically when used with certain antifungals or anticancer agents, which may reduce effectiveness, so consultation with a physician is essential. Elderly patients are at risk of increased drug concentration due to reduced kidney function, so doses should be reduced or dosing intervals extended with caution. The safety of this medication during pregnancy has not been established, so it should only be used when absolutely necessary. Nursing mothers should discontinue breastfeeding as the drug may pass into breast milk. Use in children should be avoided as safety has not been adequately confirmed. This medication can be placed on the tongue and allowed to dissolve with saliva, but must be taken with water, and should not be taken while lying down. Additionally, this medication may mask symptoms of gastric cancer, so it is important to confirm the nature of the malignancy before use.
