This medication helps alleviate gastrointestinal dysfunction symptoms such as gastroesophageal reflux, hiatal hernia, abdominal pain, dyspepsia, nausea, vomiting, and inflammation or ulcers of the stomach and duodenum. It can also improve discomfort associated with irritable bowel syndrome and spastic colon. In children, it is used to treat habitual vomiting and non-infectious abdominal pain and disorders, such as constipation or diarrhea. It effectively acts on various gastrointestinal diseases and symptoms, improving patients' conditions.

How to take

Adult dose

As Trimebutine Maleate, take 100-200mg orally three times a day before meals. Adjust accordingly based on age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication may affect the gastrointestinal tract and can rarely cause constipation, diarrhea, abdominal sounds, nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, and dry mouth symptoms. Additionally, rapid heartbeat symptoms may occur infrequently. It may also affect the central nervous system leading to fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness, lethargy, and headaches. There may be rare cases of increased liver enzyme levels due to its effect on liver function. Allergic reactions such as skin rashes may occur; if such symptoms arise, discontinue use of the medication. Pregnant women or women who may become pregnant should only use this medication if the benefits outweigh the risks. Breastfeeding women should avoid this medication as its safety is uncertain; if necessary, it is recommended to discontinue breastfeeding.

Mild side effects

  • Rarely, constipation, diarrhea, abdominal fullness, nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, dry mouth, or oral paresis may occur.
  • Rarely, palpitations may occur.

  • Rarely, increased GOT, GPT levels may occur.
  • Rarely, rashes may occur.
