Precautions

This medication should not be taken by individuals allergic to the main ingredient or any additives. Patients with severe asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease should also avoid using this medication. It should not be administered to patients with diabetic ketoacidosis or metabolic acidosis, severely slow heart rate, or significant cardiac conduction disorders. Patients with rapidly deteriorating cardiac function, severe hypotension, or right heart failure due to pulmonary hypertension should also avoid this medication. Additionally, patients with genetic metabolic issues such as lactose intolerance should not use this medication due to the presence of lactose. Patients with bronchial asthma or those prone to bronchospasm should use this medication cautiously and should be observed while being administered alongside bronchodilators. Patients at risk of heart failure also need careful attention, and when used with digitalis preparations, their condition should be closely monitored. Diabetic patients or those at risk of hypoglycemia should carefully observe blood glucose changes, and patients with severely impaired liver or kidney function should also exercise caution. Elderly patients should start with a low dose and be monitored closely. Using this medication may result in allergic reactions such as skin rash, itching, and hives, and if such symptoms appear, it should be discontinued immediately. There may also be eye-related side effects like reduced tear production, blurred vision, and dry eyes. Heart-related side effects may include decreased heart rate, cold extremities, chest tightness, low blood pressure, and heart failure. Psychological symptoms such as confusion, mood changes, nightmares, insomnia, and dizziness have been reported. Gastrointestinal issues such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain may occur, and in rare cases, respiratory distress or bronchospasm may also occur. Other side effects include liver or kidney dysfunction, skin rash, hair loss, blood abnormalities, and erectile dysfunction. When using this medication over a long period, regular checks of cardiac function, blood pressure, and electrocardiograms are necessary, and abrupt discontinuation may worsen heart disease symptoms, so dosages should be reduced gradually. Patients undergoing surgery are advised to discontinue this medication 24 hours before the procedure. Initial use may cause dizziness; therefore, driving or operating hazardous machinery should be avoided. This medication may interact with other sympathomimetics, antihypertensives, and antidiabetic agents, so consultation with a doctor or pharmacist is necessary. In particular, taking it with insulin or oral hypoglycemic agents may increase the risk of hypoglycemia. During anesthesia, cardiac suppressive effects may also be heightened; thus, informing medical personnel about this medication is critical. During pregnancy, it should be used cautiously only when necessary, as it may affect the fetus, and during breastfeeding, use should be avoided or breastfeeding should be stopped. Safety in children has not been sufficiently established. Elderly patients should start with a low dose and monitor their condition closely. In case of overdose, symptoms such as decreased heart rate, heart failure, hypotension, bronchospasm, and hypoglycemia may occur. Prompt discontinuation and appropriate medical treatment should be sought.
