Treatment of acute pancreatitis and disseminated intravascular coagulation
This medication is used for acute pancreatitis caused by abnormal activation of proteolytic enzymes, acute exacerbation of chronic recurrent pancreatitis, and treatment of postoperative acute pancreatitis. It is also effective for disseminated intravascular coagulation, thus helping to improve pancreatic-related inflammation and blood coagulation disorders.
Pancreatitis: Usually, as Gabexate Mesilate, dissolve 100mg in 5% dextrose injection or Ringer's solution, making a total of 500mL, or dissolve in 5mL of distilled water for injection, and then mix that solution into 500mL of 5% dextrose injection or Ringer's solution and administer as a drop infusion at a rate of less than 8mL per minute. As a principle, the initial dose is 100-300mg per day (diluted solution 500-1500mL).
This medication may rarely cause a severe allergic reaction known as anaphylactic shock, so the patient's condition must be checked thoroughly before administration, and preparations should be made for emergency situations. After administration, careful observation is required for symptoms such as hypotension, skin redness, itching, malaise, and nausea. If these symptoms occur, administration should be stopped immediately, and appropriate treatment should be received. It should not be used in patients with an allergy to this medication or its components. During use, adverse reactions such as vascular pain, redness, and phlebitis may occur at the injection site, as well as hypersensitivity reactions such as itching or rash. There may also be a sudden drop in blood pressure or gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea and vomiting, which requires caution. In severe cases, blood abnormalities such as a decrease in platelet or white blood cell counts or hyperkalemia may occur, so if any abnormal symptoms appear, administration should be discontinued. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should avoid receiving large doses of this medication, and the elderly should use it cautiously, adjusting the dosage as their bodily functions may be reduced. Care must be taken to prevent the medication from leaking outside the blood vessel during administration, and if the injection speed is too fast, blood pressure may drop, so the recommended speed should be adhered to. Additionally, caution should be exercised when mixing with other injectable medications to prevent turbidity or drug decomposition.
