Prevention of infection and relief of symptoms for corticosteroid responsive skin diseases (allergic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, etc.)
This medication is used for the treatment of corticosteroid-responsive skin diseases that are at risk of bacterial or fungal infections. It is effective for various skin conditions such as allergic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis, eczema, lichen simplex, exfoliative dermatitis, and chronic simple lichen. These conditions cause inflammation and itching of the skin, and this medication helps alleviate them. Therefore, this medication is used to relieve the symptoms of skin disorders and maintain healthy skin.
Apply a suitable amount on the affected area and surrounding area lightly twice daily, in the morning and evening.
This medication should not be used on wounded or mucosal areas. Avoid applying to areas with bacterial, fungal, viral, or animal skin infections as it may worsen symptoms. Patients with a history of allergy or hypersensitivity to this medication or its components should not use it. For patients with perforated eardrums suffering from eczematous otitis externa, careful use is advised as healing may be delayed. Patients with ulcers, severe burns, or frostbite should avoid use as skin regeneration may be inhibited, leading to delayed healing. It is recommended not to use this medication for patients with perioral dermatitis, common acne, or rosacea. Special care is needed for patients with hypersensitivity to specific antibiotics, as allergic reactions may occur with this medication. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant and nursing mothers should use this medication with caution and preferably avoid it. When using this medication for children or infants, it should be done under parental supervision. Signs of skin infection may appear during the use of this medication; appropriate antimicrobials or antifungals should be used in such cases, and the use should be discontinued if symptoms do not improve. Various skin side effects such as folliculitis, skin irritation, rashes, itching, etc., may occur, and if these symptoms appear, usage should be stopped immediately and a healthcare professional should be consulted. Long-term use may result in thinning of the skin, changes in pigmentation, telangiectasia, and similar side effects, so usage should be gradually reduced, and alternatives should be considered when necessary. Extensive or occlusive application of this medication for long periods can affect the body's hormonal balance, so caution is advised. When using near the eyes, there is a risk of increased intraocular pressure or glaucoma; care must be taken, and immediate ophthalmologic consultation is required if visual disturbances such as blurred vision occur. Rarely, infections caused by resistant strains may occur due to the use of this medication, so it should be discontinued if symptoms worsen. Long-term use may lead to kidney dysfunction or hearing loss, therefore prolonged use is discouraged. Adherence to prescribed dosages and administration is essential, particularly in pediatric cases under parental management. Systemic absorption of topical corticosteroids can suppress hormonal function, leading to side effects like Cushing's syndrome, elevated blood sugar levels, and osteoporosis, thus regular monitoring is necessary during extensive use. Once symptoms improve, the medication should be discontinued as soon as possible. With large or long-term use, especially in neonates or children, caution is advised as increased risk of complications may occur. Skin atrophy and steroid-induced rosacea may occur, requiring careful use in sensitive areas such as the face, neck, and genitals. If allergic symptoms or skin sensitization occur, discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional. Long-term use is not recommended, especially avoiding use for more than one week on the face or genital regions. Visual disturbances may occur; if such symptoms appear, it is crucial to seek ophthalmologic evaluation. Withdrawal syndrome may present after discontinuing topical steroids, and if symptoms recur, careful consideration is needed for re-application. Usage during pregnancy can affect the fetus, hence it should be limited to the shortest duration and smallest area possible. Caution is also advised in lactating women as this medication may be transmitted through breast milk. Children may face a higher risk of side effects due to a greater skin area in relation to body weight, so this should be approached with additional caution, notably due to possible occlusive effects from diapers. This medication should not be used for ophthalmic purposes; if it enters the eyes, it should be rinsed immediately with clean water, and a doctor's care sought if severe symptoms occur. It should not be used for purposes other than treatment such as after makeup or shaving, and it is safest not to perform occlusive dressing without a physician's direction. Store out of reach of children to prevent accidental ingestion.
