This drug effectively treats patient symptoms by assisting in immunological response modulation and inflammation reduction.

How to take

Adult dose

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients who have allergies or hypersensitivity to this drug or its components. Patients with infections or systemic fungal infections should not be administered this medication, as it can suppress immune function and worsen the infection. Patients with herpes simplex, shingles, chickenpox, and herpes simplex keratitis should also avoid using this drug, as it may aggravate the infection. Since this medication contains lactose, it should not be administered to patients with genetic issues such as lactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption. This medication should be used cautiously in patients with specific diseases. For example, patients with cataracts, hypertension, electrolyte disturbances, thrombosis, recent postoperative status, myocardial infarction, peptic ulcer, schizophrenia, osteoporosis, glaucoma, infections, diabetes, renal failure, congestive heart failure, hypothyroidism, liver disease, fatty liver, myasthenia gravis, elderly patients, and various other conditions require careful supervision. Infection patients should be cautious as the immunosuppressive effects of this drug can worsen infections. During the use of this drug, various side effects such as infections, endocrine issues, gastrointestinal symptoms, psychiatric neurological anomalies, musculoskeletal problems, fluid and electrolyte imbalances, ocular and skin issues, and hematological problems can occur, requiring careful monitoring of symptoms. Particularly, infections such as chickenpox or measles can be fatal, so it is important to verify the patient’s history and vaccination status before administration and take care to prevent infections. Long-term use may lead to adrenal insufficiency; hence abrupt discontinuation should be avoided, and dosage should be tapered gradually. During stressful situations, the dosage may need to be increased. Live vaccinations are contraindicated during immunosuppressive states, and vaccinations in general should be approached with caution. Patients with latent tuberculosis need careful observation due to the risk of tuberculosis recurrence and may require preventive treatment when necessary. This medication can interact with several other drugs; therefore, consult a physician or pharmacist if taking other medications. During pregnancy, there could be side effects on the fetus; use should be approached cautiously and only when necessary, while breastfeeding should be avoided. In pediatric patients, side effects such as growth retardation may occur, so the lowest effective dose should be utilized, and growth should be closely monitored. In elderly patients, there may be a greater incidence of side effects such as infections, diabetes, osteoporosis, hypertension, cataracts, and glaucoma; careful monitoring during administration is required.
