Treatment of candidal vaginitis
Candidal vaginitis is an inflammatory disease that occurs due to excessive proliferation of Candida in the vagina. This medication is used to treat candidal vaginitis.
Adults: Normally, insert 100 mg of clotrimazole deep into the vagina once daily for 6 consecutive days at bedtime. For a short-term regimen, normally insert 200 mg of clotrimazole deep into the vagina once daily for 3 consecutive days at bedtime.
This medication should not be used by individuals who have had allergic reactions to the active ingredient or its components. This medication contains lactose, so individuals with a genetic disorder that prevents lactose digestion should not take it. During the use of this medication, it should not be used together with certain immunosuppressants such as tacrolimus or sirolimus; if it must be used together, drug levels in the blood should be carefully monitored. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should consult a healthcare professional before using this medication. Caution should be taken during early pregnancy when using this medication, and it is advisable to avoid the use of intravaginal devices during pregnancy. Women who are breastfeeding are recommended to discontinue breastfeeding during the duration of use, as this medication may be excreted in breast milk. If any allergic reactions or abnormal symptoms such as rashes, itching, pain, or bleeding occur while using this medication, usage should be immediately stopped and a healthcare professional consulted. It is advisable not to use this medication during menstrual periods, and to avoid using vaginal cleansers or tampons during treatment. Intercourse should be avoided during the treatment period, and partners may also need treatment to prevent infection. Care should be taken to avoid contact with the eyes, and it must not be swallowed. If symptoms like high fever, lower abdominal pain, or foul-smelling vaginal discharge occur, consult a doctor immediately. There is no specific antidote in case of overdose; however, if a large amount is accidentally swallowed, emergency measures such as gastric lavage should be taken as soon as possible. This medication may weaken condoms or intravaginal contraceptive devices, so they should be avoided together. This medication is for vaginal use only and should not be taken orally. It is recommended for use by children over 12 years old and adults only. When storing, keep out of the reach of children and seal it in its original container, keeping it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
