Adjunct treatment for insomnia and sedative effect
This medicine is used as an adjunctive treatment for insomnia and has a sedative effect. It helps those who have difficulty falling asleep or having restful sleep, facilitating comfortable sleep. It also contributes to relaxation and mental stability, improving the overall quality of sleep. Due to these effects, it can be effectively utilized for the improvement of insomnia.
As diphenhydramine succinate, the dosage is 25 mg orally once a day, to be taken 30 minutes before sleep. Adjust as appropriate according to age and symptoms.
This medication should not be taken by patients with respiratory disorders such as emphysema, chronic bronchitis, or asthma. Patients with glaucoma or benign prostatic hyperplasia should also avoid using this medication. Women who are breastfeeding and children under 15 years old are also advised not to take this medicine. Additionally, as this medication contains lactose, patients with lactose intolerance or certain genetic metabolic disorders should refrain from taking it. During the course of treatment, do not take other medications without consulting a doctor or pharmacist, especially not with imipramine-class antidepressants, anticholinergics, or disopyramide, as such combinations may increase the risk of side effects such as urinary retention or constipation. While taking this medication, do not take any other medications for more than 2 weeks without discussing it with a healthcare professional. This drug may have strong sedative effects, so avoid operating dangerous machinery, such as driving or working at heights. It is safest not to take this medication after or during consumption of alcohol. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication. Common anticholinergic effects such as dry mouth or constipation may occur, and drowsiness may be experienced, so it is advisable to take this medicine primarily before bedtime. If excessive daytime drowsiness occurs, reducing the dosage may help.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
Do not take this medication in conjunction with imipramine-based antidepressants, antipsychotics, or disopyramide.
Do not consume alcohol while taking this medication.
This medication should be stored in a container that protects it from light, and it should be kept in a tightly sealed container that allows for minimal air exchange. The storage temperature should be maintained between 1°C to 30°C at room temperature.
