Precautions

This medication should not be taken by women who are pregnant or may become pregnant. The da huang ingredient can contract the uterus, increasing the risk of miscarriage or premature birth. It is also advisable for breastfeeding women not to take this medication, as certain components in da huang may be transmitted through breast milk, causing diarrhea in the baby. This medication must not be given to newborns. People who are very weak, have chills, or experience diarrhea should also avoid this medication. Moreover, individuals with a genetic disorder that prevents lactose digestion should not take this medication. Those with hypertension, heart disease, kidney disease, or edema must consult a professional before taking this medication. Elderly individuals may also need dosage adjustments if their physiological functions are declining, hence they should consult a professional. If taking other medications, experiencing diarrhea, having a weak stomach, or symptoms of lack of appetite, nausea, or vomiting, one should also consult a professional before taking this medication. If any unusual symptoms such as swelling of the face or hands and feet, or increased blood pressure occur during use, the medication should be stopped immediately, and a professional should be consulted. In addition, if symptoms such as muscle weakness, limb spasms, or fatigue appear, the medication should be discontinued and a professional consulted. If side effects like indigestion, vomiting, diarrhea, skin rashes, or hives occur, the medication should be stopped immediately. If symptoms do not improve after a few days, one should definitely consult a professional. If taking for an extended period, consultation with a professional is mandatory, and the prescribed dosage and method should be strictly adhered to. Particularly, the laxative effect of da huang varies between individuals, so caution is needed. Care should be taken when taking drugs containing potassium or licorice ingredients, as well as some diuretics due to the risk of muscle weakness and other side effects. Continuous use of irritating laxatives for over a week may develop tolerance and worsen constipation, so it is better not to use them continuously for more than a week. When taking with other herbal medicines, care should be taken to avoid ingredient overlap, especially not to take products containing da huang together. When storing, keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and be sure to store it in a sealed container after use. It should be kept in a safe place out of the reach of children, and the medication should not be transferred to another container. This is to prevent accidental misuse and maintain the drug's quality.
