Precautions

This medication is an aminoglycoside antibiotic and should not be used in patients who have had allergic reactions to this medication or similar components. Symptoms such as itching, swelling, redness, inflammation, and temporary stinging may occur around the eyes, so usage should be discontinued immediately if these symptoms arise. Attention should be taken as irritation or discomfort may sometimes occur in the eyes. To prevent the occurrence of resistant bacteria, it is advisable to confirm susceptibility to the infective organism and use it only for the minimum necessary duration. It is prudent to thoroughly check for any history of severe reactions such as shock and to conduct safety evaluations through skin tests, etc. Prolonged or repeated use may lead to overproliferation of other resistant organisms, in which case usage should be discontinued and appropriate treatment should be sought. This medication's components should not be used in combination with certain antibiotics, so consultation with healthcare professionals is essential. If taking aminoglycoside medications systemically, blood levels should be monitored periodically. To prevent the spread of infection, it is advisable to avoid wearing contact lenses during treatment. Sight may be temporarily blurred after instillation, and driving or operating machinery should be avoided until vision returns to normal. When used in conjunction with anticoagulants, the risk of bleeding may increase, so blood coagulation status should be regularly monitored and dosage adjustments made as necessary. During pregnancy, it should only be used when absolutely necessary, and during breastfeeding, either breast feeding should be halted or the medication should be used only when its benefits outweigh the risks. In the case of overdose, symptoms may include inflammation, redness, increased lacrimation, swelling, and itching in the eyes, and management of blood levels may be necessary, potentially requiring treatments like dialysis. This medication should not be injected directly into the eye. In Korea, some strains show resistance to this medication, so resistance should be considered during treatment.
