Precautions
Since this medication is in a glass ampoule form, there is a risk of glass fragments mixing with the drug when opening the ampoule. Therefore, one must cut the container very carefully to avoid mixing in glass fragments. Extra caution should be taken when using it for children and the elderly. This medication contains a component called benzyl alcohol, which can cause serious respiratory issues in premature infants, so it should not be used in premature infants or newborns. People with allergies to this medication or any of its components should not use it. Rarely, serious reactions such as a drop in blood pressure, chest pain, or difficulty breathing may occur after administration; if any of these symptoms appear, use should be immediately stopped and medical attention sought. If allergic reactions such as skin rash or itching occur, use should be discontinued. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea or vomiting may also occur. Sometimes fever, chills, tingling sensations, or anal itching may develop, and to reduce these symptoms, it is advisable to administer the injection slowly. Slow intravenous infusion is recommended. When used with medications such as levodopa, this medication may reduce its effectiveness, so they should not be used together. This medication may cause urine to turn yellow, which could affect some clinical test results. When injected intravenously, pain in the blood vessels may occur, so it is advised to control the injection speed slowly as much as possible. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and kept in a cool, moisture-free place away from direct sunlight. Additionally, transferring the medication from its original package to other containers can result in misuse or degradation of quality, so it must be stored in its original container with the lid tightly closed.
