Treatment of Candida and Trichomonas vaginitis and antibacterial and deodorizing effects
This medication is used not only for the treatment of Candida vaginitis, Trichomonas vaginitis, non-specific and mixed infections leading to vaginitis, but also for pre-operative procedures in gynecology. It is also effective as a vaginal cleansing solution for antibacterial vaginal cleansing and local washing, helping to improve vaginal health safely used in various diseases and situations.
Dilute 30 mL of Povidone-Iodine 10% (1% available iodine) in approximately 1 L of warm water for internal and external cleansing 1-2 times a day. For antibacterial vaginal cleansing, local washing, and deodorizing, cleanse once or twice a week.
This medication should not be used in patients with allergies to this medication or its components. It should be avoided in patients with thyroid dysfunction, especially those with nodular goiter or Hashimoto's thyroiditis. It is also not safe for patients with poor kidney function or renal failure. This medication should not be used in newborns and infants under 6 months of age. Patients with herpetic dermatitis or undergoing radioactive iodine treatment should also not use this medication. Use should be cautious in severely ill patients or those with a history of thyroid disease and renal failure. This medication may rarely cause severe allergic reactions such as respiratory distress and urticaria; if such symptoms occur, use should be discontinued immediately. Skin pain, itching, rash, and irritation may occur, and in severe cases, skin ulcers or contact dermatitis may develop, warranting discontinuation in case of severe symptoms. Use of large amounts may lead to serious side effects such as electrolyte imbalance, metabolic acidosis, and renal failure, so caution is advised. Prolonged use may alter thyroid function, so regular testing is recommended. In case of overdose, symptoms such as burning sensation in the mouth and throat, skin reactions, gastrointestinal issues, and respiratory distress may arise, requiring close monitoring. If used immediately prior to delivery, the newborn's eyes should be washed quickly to prevent residue on the skin. When used on extensive wounds such as burns, adequate hydration should be ensured, and kidney function and metabolism should be closely monitored. As this medication can affect thyroid function tests, a gap of 1-2 weeks between the test and the use of this medication is recommended. This medication contains iodine, which may cause thyroid dysfunction with excessive use, so caution is advised. When infections are suspected, the wound should be cleaned with saline before using this medication. If sudden severe itching, swelling, or respiratory distress occurs after use, medical attention should be sought immediately. It is advisable for pregnant women or those who may become pregnant, and breastfeeding mothers not to use this medication for prolonged or extensive periods. Absorbed iodine may affect the thyroid function of fetuses or newborns, and thyroid function testing for newborns is recommended. Care must be taken to prevent this medication from entering the eyes; if it does, it should be rinsed immediately with clean water. Do not mix this medication with other preparations, and the affected area should be cleaned before use. If this medication comes into contact with clothing, it should be washed off and removed immediately. Store away from direct sunlight, and be cautious of storing it in metal containers as it may corrode.

Do not use this medication together with hydrogen peroxide. Consult with a physician or pharmacist if using in conjunction with lithium preparations, chlorhexidine, silver sulfadiazine compounds, alkalis, mercury-containing preparations, or enzyme-based wound care products.
This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container protected from light, at a temperature between 1 to 30 degrees Celsius. Proper storage will maintain the medication's efficacy and safety.
