Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

As ursodeoxycholic acid, take 50-100mg once, three times a day.

Precautions

This medication should not be taken by individuals with allergies to specific ingredients, severe biliary obstruction, fulminant hepatitis, radiolucent calcified gallstones, non-functional gallbladders, or acute cholecystitis. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, nursing mothers, children, patients with kidney disease, peptic ulcer patients, Crohn's disease patients, and individuals with allergies to soybean oil or peanuts should also avoid taking it. This medication should be used cautiously in patients with lipid metabolism disorders or those sensitive to Yellow No. 5, and care is needed as it may enhance the action of specific diabetes medications when taken together. Furthermore, medications containing cholestyramine, colestipol, medicinal charcoal, magnesium, or aluminum hydroxide as antacids may interfere with the absorption of this medication and should not be taken together. Combining this medication with drugs that increase cholesterol secretion from the liver may reduce its effectiveness and may cause liver damage when taken with drugs known to harm the liver. Patients with severe pancreatic disease or gallstones in the biliary tract, variceal bleeding, hepatic coma, ascites, or those requiring rapid liver transplantation should consult medical professionals before taking this medication. While taking it, gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, constipation, and heartburn, as well as allergic symptoms like itching and rash may occur. If such symptoms appear, administration should stop immediately, and consultation with a specialist is required. If there are symptoms such as fever, cough, or difficulty breathing suspected to be interstitial pneumonia, take this medication off and consult a medical professional immediately. Routine liver function tests and plasma lipid tests should be conducted regularly during prolonged use of this medication, and elderly individuals may require dosage adjustments due to reduced bodily functions. Dissolution therapy for gallstones typically takes 6 to 24 months, so it is necessary to monitor treatment progress through imaging examinations during this period, and if there is no reduction in gallstones, treatment may be discontinued. This medication should be stored out of the reach of children, and if it is transferred from its original container to another, there is a risk of quality degradation or misuse, hence it should be kept in its original container.
