This medication is used to treat primary and secondary carnitine deficiency. It is also effective for myocardial metabolic disorders resulting from ischemic heart disease, such as angina and acute myocardial infarction. It helps improve carnitine deficiency in end-stage kidney disease patients undergoing hemodialysis. Thus, it supports patient health by addressing carnitine deficiency issues in various cardiovascular and renal-related diseases.

How it is given

Adult administration

1. Primary and secondary carnitine deficiency Myocardial metabolic disorder due to ischemic heart disease: angina, acute myocardial infarction Adults: Administer 2~3 grams of L-carnitine per day intramuscularly or intravenously in 2~3 divided doses. Precautions

This medication is an ampoule injection; care should be taken as glass fragments may mix when cutting the glass container. Extra caution is especially necessary when administering to children and the elderly. It should not be administered to patients with allergic reactions to this medication. Some patients may experience symptoms such as nausea or vomiting, changes in body odor, and gastritis. Administering this medication to patients with a history of seizures may increase the frequency or intensity of seizures. In studies involving chronic hemodialysis patients, various adverse reactions such as abdominal pain, pain, headache, infection, hypertension, and diarrhea have been reported. Oral administration may lead to allergic symptoms such as rashes, urticaria, and facial swelling. Patients with severely impaired kidney function or those receiving dialysis may risk the accumulation of toxic substances in the body if administered high doses for long periods. Patients taking warfarin should regularly check blood coagulation levels (INR) when starting or adjusting the dose of this medication. The safety of this medication during pregnancy has not been sufficiently established; it should only be used when the benefits outweigh the risks. It is uncertain whether this medication is excreted in breast milk, so careful consideration should be given when administering it during breastfeeding.
