Relief of inflammation in conditions such as arthritis (osteoarthritis, rheumatoid-like arthritis) and bursitis
This medication is effectively used for various conditions. It helps in the short-term treatment of inflammatory diseases of the joints and bursae, such as synovitis in osteoarthritis, rheumatoid-like arthritis, acute and subacute bursitis, acute gouty arthritis, epicondylitis, tendinitis, and post-traumatic osteoarthritis through intra-articular injections. Additionally, it is used by intramuscular injection for various rheumatic diseases, collagen diseases, dermatological diseases, allergic diseases, ophthalmic diseases, gastrointestinal diseases, and hematological diseases, including endocrine disorders such as adrenal cortical insufficiency, especially when oral therapy is difficult. It can also be used for intradermal injections in the treatment of lichen planus (malignant), early keloids, and alopecia areata. Therefore, it is a drug effective for treating various conditions such as arthritis, dermatitis, allergies, ophthalmic, and hematological diseases.
1. Intra-articular, bursal, and tendinous injections As Triamcinolone Acetonide, usually administered at 2 to 40 mg per injection, in principle at intervals of more than 2 weeks, and adjusted appropriately. 2. Intramuscular injection Usual initial dose of 40 mg administered deeply into the gluteal muscle, adjusted between 20 and 80 mg at intervals of 1 to 2 weeks based on the therapeutic effect. 3. Local intradermal injection The initial administration dose varies with each condition.

This medication is in a suspension form and should not be used for intravenous injection. Injecting epidurally or intrathecally can result in serious side effects, so these methods of administration should be avoided. Patients who are hypersensitive to this medication or have previously experienced allergic reactions should not use it. Patients with infections or systemic fungal infections should not be administered this medication, as it can suppress immunity and exacerbate infections. Patients with thrombocytopenia or purpura, herpes simplex, shingles, or chickenpox should also not use this medication. Care must be taken in using this medication for patients with intra-articular infections or unstable joints as it may exacerbate symptoms. Patients with specific conditions such as tuberculosis, herpetic keratitis, cataracts, glaucoma, hypertension, thrombosis, myocardial infarction, peptic ulcers, schizophrenia, osteoporosis, etc., should use this medication cautiously. Infection patients, those with hypothyroidism, liver cirrhosis, fatty liver, renal failure, heart failure, elderly patients, and diabetic patients also require caution. This medication can lead to various side effects, so it's important to closely monitor fluid retention, hypertension, myalgia, osteoporosis, gastrointestinal issues, skin changes, neuropsychiatric abnormalities, endocrine issues, eye abnormalities, blood disorders, metabolic issues, and respiratory issues during administration. Specifically, intra-articular administration may cause joint instability, intramuscular administration may cause tissue atrophy, and administration in the head and neck area may result in visual disturbances, thus caution is necessary. This medication can promote the replication of the hepatitis B virus in carriers, so liver function tests and virus marker monitoring are needed. In scleroderma patients, renal function and blood pressure should be closely monitored. This medication is recommended to be given at the lowest possible dose for a short duration, paying attention to potential adrenal insufficiency and withdrawal symptoms with long-term use. This medication has many drug interactions, requiring careful control and caution when used with barbiturates, anticonvulsants, rifampicin, NSAIDs, anticoagulants, diuretics, ACE inhibitors, antimalarials, digitalis, cyclosporine, interferon, isoniazid, etc. During pregnancy, it may harm the fetus, and during lactation, it can be transmitted through breast milk affecting the baby, so pregnant and nursing women should use it cautiously. In children, severe side effects such as growth retardation and increased intracranial pressure can occur, so it should be administered at the minimum dose with caution, and tissue atrophy at the injection site should also be considered. Elderly patients are at a higher risk of side effects such as infection, diabetes, osteoporosis, hypertension, cataracts, and glaucoma, requiring cautious observation during administration. During administration, avoid intravenous injection, spinal canal injection, epidural injection, and intrathecal injection, and when administering intramuscularly, avoid the area where nerves run, and if there is pain or blood return during injection, the injection site should be immediately changed.
