Treatment of skin infections (primary, secondary)
This drug is effective against various bacteria including streptococci, staphylococci (including penicillinase-producing strains), Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Escherichia coli. It is mainly used for primary skin infections such as contagious impetigo, superficial folliculitis, abscesses, furuncles, and hidradenitis. It also helps treat secondary skin infections like contagious eczematous dermatitis, pustular psoriasis, and seborrheic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, wounds, and pustular acne that are secondarily infected by pyogenic bacteria. It is effective against overlapping infections accompanied by fungal or viral infections. This drug is widely used to improve various skin bacterial infections.
Apply to the affected area 1 to 4 times a day and gently rub it in. A gauze dressing can be applied if necessary. In the case of contagious impetigo, it is advisable to apply after removing crusts (scabs). Care should be taken not to contaminate other normal skin.
This drug should not be used in patients with a history of allergic reactions to aminoglycoside antibiotics and bacitracin or in infants under 1 year of age. Caution is advised for patients with an allergy or hypersensitivity to propylene glycol. If a rash or contact dermatitis appears on the skin, use should be discontinued immediately. Long-term use may lead to side effects such as renal impairment or hearing loss, so it is advisable not to use it continuously for extended periods. To prevent the emergence of resistant bacteria, it is preferable to check the susceptibility of the infecting bacteria and use it only for the minimum required duration. Excessive proliferation of fungi or other non-sensitive bacteria can occur with topical antibiotics, so if skin irritation, hypersensitivity, or superinfection occurs, use should be stopped and appropriate treatment sought. Allergic reactions may occur, so if symptoms such as itching, erythema, swelling, or small blisters arise, use should be discontinued immediately and observed. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use it only when the benefits outweigh the risks, and caution is also required during breastfeeding. This drug is not intended for use in the eyes, so it should not be used for ophthalmic purposes. It should be stored in a secure place out of reach of children.
