This medication is used to treat secondary infections or infections at risk in corticosteroid-responsive skin diseases caused by bacteria sensitive to gentamicin, such as allergic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis, eczema, lichen simplex, dermatitis exfoliativa, and chronic simple lichen (neurodermatitis).

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

Apply an appropriate amount lightly to the affected area 1-2 times a day. Use with caution on the face. Reduce the frequency of application as symptoms improve.

Precautions

This medication should not be used on the eyes or around the eyes. It should not be used on areas with bacterial, fungal, viral infections, or animal infections, as it may worsen symptoms. Persons who have allergies or a history of hypersensitivity to this medication or its components should not use it. Patients with otitis externa with perforation of the tympanic membrane should avoid use as it may delay healing of the wound. This medication should not be used in patients with ulcers, severe burns, or frostbite as it may inhibit skin regeneration and delay healing. Patients with perioral dermatitis, common acne, or rosacea should avoid use of this medication. Patients allergic to gentamicin should also avoid use. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, and nursing mothers should use this medication cautiously, especially pregnant women are advised to avoid use. Children should be used carefully as the absorption of the medication is higher relative to body weight, increasing the risk of side effects. During the use of this medication, bacterial or viral infections may occur on the skin, so if symptoms arise, consult a doctor immediately. If symptoms such as skin irritation, rash, itching, or fever occur, discontinue use and consult a professional. Long-term use may cause side effects such as thinning of the skin, telangiectasia, and pigmentation changes, so the dosage and duration should be adjusted accordingly. Excessive or widespread use may lead to systemic adrenal suppression, requiring regular testing. Special caution should be exercised when used around the eyes as it may cause an increase in intraocular pressure or risk of glaucoma. Rarely, infections caused by resistant bacteria may occur with the use of this medication, so discontinue use if symptoms worsen. Avoid using large amounts on wound areas or in conjunction with other aminoglycoside antibiotics, as this may result in nephrotoxicity or ototoxicity. The prescribed dosage and administration must be strictly adhered to, particularly in children under supervision. It is advisable to discontinue use as soon as symptoms improve. Long-term or excessive use with occlusive dressings should be avoided. When used on thin-skinned areas such as the face, neck, or genital region, potential local side effects should be considered. If an allergic reaction is suspected, discontinue use immediately and consult a healthcare professional. If blurred vision or other visual disturbances occur, consult an ophthalmologist. Inappropriate prolonged use may lead to steroid withdrawal syndrome, so careful management is needed if symptoms recur. Pregnant women are recommended to use the minimum area for the shortest duration, and nursing mothers should also be cautious. In children, drug absorption relative to body surface area is high, so extra precautions should be taken, especially in diapered areas which may have effects similar to occlusive dressings. Excessive use may result in symptoms such as adrenal suppression and Cushing syndrome, so in such cases, medication should be gradually discontinued with appropriate treatment. This medication should not be used for ophthalmological purposes, nor should it be used for non-therapeutic purposes such as after makeup or shaving. When using occlusive dressings, it should be done under medical supervision, and the affected area must be kept clean to reduce the risk of infection. Keep out of reach of children.
