Dosage

Start with 100 mg of allopurinol once daily. Increase weekly by 100 mg until the serum uric acid level reaches 7 mg/100 mL for men and postmenopausal women, or 6 mg/100 mL for premenopausal women, without exceeding a maximum of 800 mg per day. For mild gout, administer 100 to 300 mg daily; for moderate nodular gout, 300 to 600 mg daily; for severe nodular gout, 1 day
