Precautions

This medication, when taken with alcohol or other central nervous system depressants, can lead to intensified sedation and respiratory or cardiac function suppression, potentially resulting in coma or death. Additionally, using it with narcotics increases the risk of deep sedation, respiratory depression, coma or death, so it should only be administered in minimal doses for a short duration under close observation when absolutely necessary. This medication should not be used in patients with acute narrow-angle glaucoma, severe myasthenia gravis, severe respiratory failure, infants under 6 months, sleep apnea syndrome, alcohol or drug dependence, severe liver dysfunction, and certain hereditary lactose intolerance. Caution is advised in patients with weakened heart, liver, or kidney functions, those with brain damage, infants, the elderly, and patients with depression. Long-term use at high doses may lead to dependence; therefore, it should only be used for the shortest possible time and dosage should be gradually reduced to avoid withdrawal symptoms and rebound anxiety upon abrupt discontinuation. Patients with mental disorders may experience abnormal reactions such as anxiety, hallucinations, or confusion and should be closely monitored, as a variety of side effects including drowsiness, dizziness, visual disturbances, blood abnormalities, and liver dysfunction can occur. While taking this medication, drowsiness and decreased concentration may occur, so driving or operating hazardous machinery should be avoided, especially when taken with alcohol or other sedatives. In the case of seizure disorders, symptoms may worsen, and there is a higher risk of suicide in patients with depression, so it should be administered cautiously. Pregnant women in early pregnancy or during pregnancy should not take this medication, and breastfeeding mothers should also avoid it due to potential effects on the baby. In the elderly, the medication may have a stronger effect, increasing the risk of side effects; starting with a lower dosage is therefore safer. This medication interacts with various drugs, and especially when used with narcotics, alcohol, antidepressants, antipsychotics, and antibiotics, the risk of side effects may increase, so consultation with a physician is essential. In cases of overdose, severe sedation, respiratory depression, and coma may occur, necessitating immediate medical attention; special antidotes may be used. Regular liver function and blood tests are recommended while taking this medication, and any symptoms or side effects should be reported to healthcare personnel immediately.
