This medication is effective against various bacterial infections, and is used for skin and soft tissue infections such as boils, abscesses, and cellulitis. It is also helpful in treating upper respiratory infections such as tonsillitis, otitis media, and sinusitis, as well as lower respiratory infections like pneumonia and bronchitis. Additionally, it is utilized for urinary tract infections such as pyelonephritis, cystitis, and urethritis, as well as abdominal infections such as peritonitis, liver abscess, and typhoid fever. It is effective in treating various bacterial diseases such as scarlet fever, osteomyelitis, and intrauterine infections. This drug demonstrates strong efficacy against major pathogenic bacteria including streptococci, pneumococci, staphylococci, and gonococci, and is used to alleviate infection symptoms.
Dosage
For adults and children weighing 20 kg or more, 250–500 mg (potency) of amoxicillin is administered orally three times a day.
Precautions
This drug should not be administered to specific patients. For example, patients with a history of severe allergic reactions or hypersensitivity to this drug, patients with infectious mononucleosis, and those with lymphocytic lymphoma should avoid injection forms. Furthermore, it should be used with caution in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to cephalosporin antibiotics or a family history of allergic tendencies, severe renal impairment, patients who have difficulty with oral ingestion or are elderly, patients with heart failure, urinary tract abnormalities, or recurrent urinary tract infections. This drug can cause allergic reactions, so during administration, it is important to carefully monitor for symptoms such as fever, rash, urticaria, or respiratory distress, and discontinue use and consult medical personnel immediately if these symptoms occur. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, blood abnormalities, central nervous system symptoms, skin rashes, and severe skin conditions may also occur, and these changes should be reported immediately. Regular monitoring is necessary as it can affect liver and kidney function, and adequate hydration and maintenance of urine output should be ensured during administration. Additionally, since this drug may interact with other medications, caution is advised when taking it together with allopurinol, probenecid, oral contraceptives, certain antibiotics, and anti-inflammatory drugs. Caution should be exercised when used in pregnant or breastfeeding women, and special attention is also necessary for infants or the elderly. Overdosage may cause kidney damage, so the prescribed dosage should be adhered to, and for intravenous forms, spinal canal injection should be avoided, and skin contact should be prevented. When using this drug, it is important to administer it for the minimum necessary duration to prevent the development of resistant bacteria and to sufficiently monitor the patient's condition afterward.

Hives, shock, hives resembling serum sickness-like reactions, severe allergic reactions, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, erythema and vesicles of the skin and mucous membranes, pustules, skin tension, burning sensation or pain, jaundice, acute renal failure, aseptic meningitis, altered consciousness, severe edema, elevated blood pressure, shock, respiratory distress, asthma attacks.
