This medication is effective in sterilizing and disinfecting areas such as lacerations, burns, and wounds, as well as areas with ulcers or abscesses. It is also used for sterilizing infected skin surfaces and surgical sites, as well as areas where injections or catheters have been inserted. Overall, it helps keep wounds and infected areas clean, aiding in infection prevention and treatment.

How to use

Adult use

Apply an appropriate amount to the affected area once or multiple times daily.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients who are allergic to this drug or its components. Patients with thyroid dysfunction, particularly those with nodular goiter or Hashimoto's thyroiditis, should not receive this medication. It is also safe not to use this drug in patients with poor kidney function or renal failure. This drug should not be used in newborns and infants under 6 months of age. Patients with herpes dermatitis or those undergoing radioactive iodine therapy should also avoid this medication. It should be used with caution in severely ill patients or those with a history of thyroid disease and renal failure. Rarely, hypersensitivity reactions such as respiratory distress, skin rash, and urticaria may occur after using this drug; if such symptoms appear, use should be discontinued immediately. Symptoms such as pain, itching, rash, redness, and dermatitis may occur on the skin, and in severe cases, use should be stopped. Using large amounts may lead to side effects such as electrolyte imbalance, metabolic acidosis, and renal failure, so caution is needed. Long-term use may lead to changes in thyroid hormone levels, requiring regular check-ups. Massive use may cause a metallic taste, burning sensation and pain in the throat and mouth, eye irritation, diarrhea, and respiratory distress. Excessive use can result in iodine toxicity, so appropriate dosages must be followed. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should avoid long-term or extensive use of this drug due to potential impacts on fetal and neonatal thyroid function. This medication can affect thyroid function tests, so intervals between doses should be adjusted during testing. Patients undergoing lithium therapy should avoid using this drug, and its effects may be reduced or interact with certain other drugs when used together. Care should be taken to avoid contact with the eyes, and if it does get in the eyes, it should be rinsed out immediately with clean water. When using, clean and disinfect the affected area, and do not mix with other medications. Store away from direct sunlight, and use storage containers made of non-metallic materials.

Drug interactions

Do not use this drug in conjunction with hydrogen peroxide. If using with lithium preparations, chlorhexidine, silver sulfadiazine compounds, alkalis, mercury-containing preparations, or enzymatic wound healing agents, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
