Precautions
This medication should not be given to specific patients. Patients who have experienced severe allergic reactions to this medication or are hypersensitive to penicillin antibiotics should not use it. Caution is also needed in patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphoproliferative disorders. This medication should be administered carefully to patients with allergic diathesis or very poor kidney function, elderly patients, and those in poor general condition. Additionally, caution is required for patients with heart failure or urinary tract diseases. This medication can rarely cause serious allergic reactions such as shock. If symptoms such as oral discomfort, dizziness, or wheezing occur, use should be discontinued immediately. Allergic symptoms such as skin rashes, urticaria, and arthralgia may occur; in these cases, the medication should be stopped, and appropriate treatment should be provided. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea may occur, and in severe cases, colitis may develop, requiring discontinuation of the medication if symptoms are present. Blood abnormalities such as decreased blood cell counts or prolonged bleeding times may occur, so if abnormal symptoms appear, the medication should be stopped. Symptoms like anxiety, insomnia, and confusion may rarely occur in the central nervous system, and if aseptic meningitis symptoms appear, use should be stopped immediately. Severe skin reactions such as itching, severe dermatitis, and Stevens-Johnson syndrome may occur, so abnormal symptoms should be monitored carefully. Serious renal issues such as liver function abnormalities or acute renal failure may rarely arise, necessitating regular monitoring. During the use of this medication, secondary infections caused by fungi or bacteria may occur, so caution is required. In cases of high-dose administration, adequate hydration is important to prevent kidney damage. This medication may interact with allopurinol, probenecid, oral contraceptives, and certain antibiotics, so caution is advised when taken concurrently. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should carefully consider the benefits and risks of taking this medication, and similar care should be taken by nursing mothers. Safety in children, especially in low-birth-weight infants and neonates, has not been established, so caution is required in their use. Elderly individuals may exhibit abnormal reactions more readily due to decreased bodily functions, so dose and administration intervals should be adjusted, and careful observation is necessary. This medication can affect clinical test results, so it is important to inform the healthcare provider of its use during tests. Overdosage may result in renal failure, so the prescribed dosage must be adhered to.
