It is effective against severe infections such as osteomyelitis and intrauterine infections, improving various infectious diseases.
Dosage
Adults and children weighing 20 kg or more should take 250-500 mg (potency) of amoxicillin orally three times a day.
Precautions
This drug should not be used for specific patients. For example, patients with a history of allergic reactions or shock to this medication, those hypersensitive to penicillin antibiotics, patients with infectious mononucleosis, and patients with lymphocytic lymphoma should not take this drug. Additionally, patients with genetic conditions that prevent the breakdown of lactose should also refrain from taking this medication. Certain patients should exercise caution when using this medication. People allergic to cephalosporin antibiotics, patients with an allergic constitution, patients with significantly impaired kidney function, elderly patients, or those in poor general health should be cautious when taking this drug. In particular, if kidney function is weak, the dosage intervals should be extended, and observation is necessary as vitamin K deficiency symptoms may occur. This medication can cause various side effects, so if symptoms such as discomfort, hives, fever, abdominal pain, diarrhea, dizziness, or skin rashes appear during use, stop taking the medication immediately and consult a doctor. Rarely, serious allergic reactions or abnormalities in liver, kidney function, and blood may occur, necessitating regular monitoring. When using this drug, it is advisable to conduct susceptibility testing to prevent the emergence of resistant bacteria and to only administer it for the necessary duration. Furthermore, it is recommended to perform thorough inquiries and skin response tests before administration to prevent allergic reactions. This drug may interact with other medications; care should be taken when taken with allopurinol, probenecid, oral contraceptives, certain antibiotics, and anti-inflammatory drugs. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a doctor before taking this drug, as its safety has not been fully established. The safety for children or newborns, particularly those with low birth weight, has not been established, so special caution is needed. Elderly patients may experience side effects more easily due to decreased bodily functions, and the risk of bleeding due to vitamin K deficiency makes dose adjustment and condition monitoring crucial. This medication can affect urine test results, so caution is required during testing, and there is a risk of kidney damage from overdose, so it is essential to adhere to the prescribed dosage.
