Improvement of gastric and duodenal ulcers and gastritis (antacid effect, symptom relief) and constipation improvement
This medication improves symptoms through antacid action in gastrointestinal diseases such as gastric and duodenal ulcers, gastritis, and excessive gastric acid. It is also effective in relieving constipation symptoms. Therefore, it is used for both digestive problems and constipation.
1. Gastric and duodenal ulcers, gastritis, excessive gastric acid: Administer 1-2.5g of magnesium hydroxide orally in divided doses per day. 2. Constipation: Administer 1-2g orally in one or two divided doses per day. Adjust the dosage appropriately according to age and symptoms.
This medication should not be administered to patients with severely impaired kidney function, as it can lead to dangerously high levels of magnesium in the blood. Additionally, it is advisable not to use this medication in patients with diarrhea. Caution should be exercised when administering this medication to patients with heart issues or those who already have elevated blood magnesium levels. When taking this medication, gastrointestinal side effects such as occasional diarrhea may occur, so vigilance is required. Prolonged use or taking large amounts may lead to excessively high magnesium levels, necessitating careful monitoring and reduction or temporary discontinuation of the dosage if abnormalities occur. If magnesium toxicity symptoms are suspected, appropriate treatment should be sought immediately, and potassium salt injections may be beneficial. This medication should not be taken concurrently with certain antibiotics, such as tetracycline, as it may interfere with the absorption of the antibiotic. Moreover, it can alter the gastrointestinal environment, affecting the absorption or excretion of other drugs, so caution should be practiced when taken with other medications. Occasionally, when taken with large amounts of milk or calcium preparations, symptoms such as hypercalcemia or alkalosis may arise, so symptoms should be closely monitored and the medication should be discontinued if abnormalities are detected. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and kept in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Furthermore, to prevent misuse and maintain the quality of the medication, it should be stored in its original container.
Hypermagnesemia (which may correspond to severe swelling or urinary abnormalities)
Diarrhea may occur.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication should not be taken with tetracycline-class antibiotics.
This medication may cause milk-alkali syndrome (hypercalcemia, hypernitrogenemia, alkalosis, etc.) when taken in large amounts with milk or calcium preparations, so it is advised to consult with a physician or pharmacist.
This medication should be stored in a sealed container to avoid exposure to air and is best kept at a temperature between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius. Storing it this way helps ensure the medication's effectiveness is safely maintained.
