This medication is used to supplement energy in patients with diabetes or in a diabetic state. It also aids in supplying energy to patients with drug or alcohol intoxication and is effective in situations that require non-oral hydration and energy supply. It is also used as a solvent and diluent for injectable preparations. Overall, it improves energy supply and hydration in various conditions.

How it is given

Adult administration

Administer intravenously as fructose, 500 to 1000 mL per dose. The drip intravenous administration rate should be less than 0.5 g/kg of body weight per hour. Adjust appropriately according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

When using glass ampoules, care must be taken to cut them carefully to prevent glass shards from entering the injection solution. Special caution is required when administering to children or the elderly. This medication should not be used in patients with hereditary fructose intolerance, storage dehydration, methanol poisoning, or those with allergies to this medication. It should be administered with caution to patients with nephrogenic diabetes insipidus, fructose diabetes, hyperuricemia, olfactory hypersensitivity, shock states, or liver or kidney diseases. Excessive administration of this medication may cause sweating or facial flushing, and rapid administration may lead to electrolyte imbalances, so caution is advised. Elderly patients may have decreased bodily functions, requiring extra care when using this medication. Excessive subcutaneous administration may cause circulatory problems due to shifts in blood electrolytes, so subcutaneous injections should be avoided. Prior to administration, the patient's skin and the device should be thoroughly disinfected, and the injection solution should be warmed to body temperature for use. After opening, it should be used immediately, and any remaining solution should be discarded. Additionally, the injection should be administered slowly intravenously. Do not use if there are droplets inside the packaging, if the solution is discolored, or if it is cloudy.

Sweating, facial flushing, electrolyte loss, lactic acidosis, hyperuricemia, thrombophlebitis, discomfort or pain in the chest or abdomen
