Precautions

This medication should not be taken by women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, as the rhubarb component included in this medication can cause uterine contractions or congestion of pelvic organs, increasing the risk of miscarriage or preterm birth. Women who are breastfeeding should also avoid this medication, as the rhubarb components can be transferred to breast milk and cause diarrhea in infants, hence breastfeeding should be avoided or stopped during treatment. While taking this medication, it is advisable not to take other medications that induce diarrhea, as they may exacerbate the diarrhea. Individuals with hypertension, or problems with the heart or kidneys, those with body swelling, elderly individuals, or those who are taking other medications should consult a specialist before taking this medication. Additionally, those who have diarrhea symptoms or have a weak stomach, lack of appetite, nausea, or vomiting symptoms should exercise caution. Individuals who are weak, children, those with a history of skin rashes or itching due to medications, or those with a history of liver disease should also consult a specialist before taking this medication. If symptoms such as swelling of the face or hands and feet, an increase in blood pressure, muscle weakness or spasms, difficulty breathing, signs of abnormal liver function, severe skin rashes, or digestive disturbances appear during treatment, discontinue use immediately and consult a specialist. If improvement is not seen and no effect is achieved after taking the medication for more than a month, it is advisable to stop taking it and consult a specialist. This medication should be used with caution if taken in conjunction with medications that contain potassium or licorice or specific diuretics, as the risk of side effects may increase. Dosage and administration must be strictly followed, and since the constipation-relieving effect of rheum may vary from person to person, care must be taken not to overdose. Irritant laxatives can lead to tolerance and worsen constipation if used for long periods, so it is advisable not to take them for more than a week consecutively. If constipation persists, the underlying cause should be investigated. When taking this medication with other herbal medicines, care should be taken to avoid the duplication of rhubarb components, and it's safe to consult a specialist if long-term use is necessary. When storing, keep it in a cool place away from direct sunlight and moisture, and ensure it is out of reach of children. Transferring the medication from its original container to another may lead to quality deterioration or misuses, so it must be kept sealed in its original container.
