Chonnam National University Dental Hospital

I was going to a local dentist, but my gums kept swelling and it hurt and burned whenever I ate spicy or hot food. I asked the doctor about it, and he told me that they couldn't treat it there, so I had to go to the Oral Medicine department at Chonnam National University Dental Hospital. I've been going there since July of last year, and it still hasn't gotten much better. I went for treatment yesterday and asked my doctor (Kim So-ra) about it. She told me that this condition is called oral lichen planus, which is a type of gum skin disease that's difficult to completely cure, and I will need ongoing management and treatment. So I've been going there for almost two years now, and it looks like I will need to continue treatment. I’m really grateful to Dr. Kim So-ra for being very kind and explaining everything to me. She mentioned that if necessary, I might need to undergo a biopsy or procedure in the future, so I think I need to seriously commit to the treatment. I feel a bit frustrated not knowing when I’ll recover, but there is nothing I can do about it. I’m determined to focus on treatment while being careful about my diet.

I am currently undergoing treatment and I have an appointment scheduled for early September 2026.

It's been almost a year since my last visit to the clinic, and I came in for a scaling. I was able to check in and receive the scaling right away without any wait. They did a great job!

When my child was 7 years old, they hurt their front tooth in the countryside. In a hurry, since it was the weekend and all the hospitals were closed, we went to Jeonnam National University Dental Hospital. The treatment for the front tooth was done so thoroughly. After the treatment, everything went smoothly, and eventually, the baby teeth fell out and the adult teeth grew in strong and healthy. It's all thanks to that doctor. He was really kind and when my child was bleeding from their mouth, he comforted both my child and me while I cried. I was truly grateful.
