[5-Minute Meditation] Lying Down in the Morning "Gratitude"… Live for "Today Only"
Good morning. Did you sleep well?
I hope the exhaustion and discomfort from the previous day will dissipate overnight.
Isn't that often the case?
How about setting up your own morning ritual in case such times come?
Let me introduce my morning consciousness.
Lying down, I turn on classical FM and confess in a whisper.
"Thank you." Awakening from a death-like sleep and being 'resurrected,' able to continue life today as if by a miracle.
This is a comprehensive greeting about being able to live anew.
And saying, "Everything is going well."
I prepare to positively anticipate and embrace every moment I will face today.
He/She gets up and marks a thick line on today's date on the desk calendar.
It is an awareness of precisely 'today,' and at the same time, a step closer to death.
This is my own Memento Mori (Remember that you will die).
When considering the latter, the weight and value of today become clear.
Then, open all the windows in the house wide open to let out the stale air accumulated overnight and bring in fresh air.
I enjoy the clear sound that spreads without boundaries as I strike the landscape (風磬) hanging outside the window three times.
Doing this also helps clear my mind.
Finally, I perform a three-bow (sam-bae) on the cushion placed in the center of the living room, offering my gratitude to all the things in the world that support my life. It is a thank you expressed through the body.
Thanks to my now habitual morning routine, the heavy heart from the previous day and
I am enjoying the side effects of easily disconnecting.
Starting tomorrow, send a smile to the new day without any conditions.
"Smile!" The strength to live only for today, without past or future, is overflowing.
