A review of a visit to MJ Obstetrics and Gynecology in Geumcheon-gu due to irregular menstruation.
What problem/symptom/concern caused you to visit the hospital?
My menstrual cycle has always been irregular, but after skipping it for several months at a time, I started to feel anxious about just letting it go.
I had never been to an OB/GYN before and kept putting it off thinking I would eventually do it, but when my periods became too irregular, I decided I couldn't take it anymore and went to see an OB/GYN.
Why I chose MJ Obstetrics and Gynecology
This was my first time going to an OB/GYN, so I looked around and this one had good reviews.
I chose this hospital because it seemed to be a large hospital with a high level of expertise, and a family member who goes there recommended it.
I went there right away because my family recommended it.
MJ Obstetrics and Gynecology is an obstetrics and gynecology clinic that occupies the entire building shown in the photo.
There are many hospital rooms, and there is also a sky park on the rooftop.
There is also a pediatrics clinic and a nursing home.
This is what the desk looked like with the tree hanging when I visited before Christmas.
Details of treatment/consultation received at the hospital
On my first visit, I had an ultrasound to determine the cause of my irregular periods.
The results show that there are no other problems, so it is simply an irregular menstrual cycle due to hormonal imbalance.
I was prescribed birth control pills to regulate my cycle.
After taking the medicine, I was relieved because my period started!!
I only had my period that month and then didn't have my period again for two months.
So I went back to the hospital.
On my second visit, the doctor said that since there were no abnormalities on the ultrasound, I should get a blood test this time, so I got one.
And this time, I decided to do an ovarian function test, so I took the test while I was at it.
Actually, the birth control pills I took at first didn't have any major side effects, but strangely, after taking the pills, my stomach started rumbling so loudly that I felt like I wasn't digesting well.
When I told them about this symptom, they immediately changed my medication.
Fortunately, I have been getting my period every month since then.
The cost of the examination, treatment, and medication came to that amount.
What was good and what was disappointing during the treatment/consultation process
The best part was that he explained it in detail based on my situation.
I just went because my menstrual cycle is irregular, but I got compliments saying it was a great experience haha
There are people who don't usually go to the gynecologist unless they are sick, but they were very kind and told me that I did well in going straight to the hospital.
He calmly pointed out the parts that I was anxious about and explained in detail why I used birth control pills to control my irregular periods.
Even after taking the first birth control pill I was prescribed, I started to feel a gurgling sound. Instead of just passing it off as normal, they changed the pill right away and were very attentive.
Since it was a large hospital, I had no worries at all that it would be busy and the treatment would be formal, and I realized why it had such good reviews.
There wasn't anything particularly regrettable.
I made a reservation in advance and went, so the waiting time wasn't long.
If I had to pick one, it's that it's difficult to get there without a car. There's a subway station nearby, but it's too far to walk.
Overall satisfaction with treatment and consultation
It was my first visit to the gynecologist, so I was very nervous, but the doctor was not stiff, so I was able to receive the treatment comfortably.
I also got the feeling that he was not just giving me a cursory examination, but was looking at me carefully.
If you are worried about irregular menstruation, don't wait and think it will go away. Be sure to go to the hospital.
Would you visit again or recommend?
I would recommend this to anyone who is struggling with irregular periods!
I think I understand a little bit why people prefer big hospitals haha
There are both male and female doctors at MJ.
I recommend Dr. Oh Yoon-kyung, who I received treatment from.
