(Concern) Can I get rid of a burn scar?
A few years ago, I spilled hot cup ramen on my thigh and suffered a severe burn. I should have gone to the hospital immediately, but I just applied Medifoam I had at home. When I later went to the hospital and removed the Medifoam, my skin peeled off completely, making the condition worse, and I even had to be hospitalized for treatment.
Burns are classified into first to third degree.
❗️A first-degree burn
The outer layer of the skin, the epidermis, is affected, turning red, swelling, and accompanied by a burning pain.
Second-degree burn
The condition has affected up to the upper layers of the epidermis and dermis. The skin becomes red, swollen, blistered, and accompanied by severe pain. Second-degree burns are divided into superficial second-degree burns and deep second-degree burns.
Second-degree superficial burn
Blisters and pain occur when only the thin layer of the dermis is damaged. Superficial second-degree burns appear slightly red or pale pink.
✔️Sim Jae-sung second-degree burn
It affects deep into the dermis layer, accompanied by blisters and severe pain. Full-thickness second-degree burns tend to appear white rather than red and look pale.
I was hospitalized and receiving treatment for second-degree burns, so it was quite serious.
Right now, it remains in the center of my thigh like a map of the Korean Peninsula. I thought it would fade over time, but it stayed as a light brown color. I wonder if a dermatologist can remove this kind of burn scar.
Has anyone gone to a dermatologist to get rid of scars remaining after burn treatment?
I'm also curious about which procedures can eliminate it and the cost information.
