Should I correct presbyopia?

Recently, I met a close friend who had cataract surgery. The first impression was that they took off their glasses, which they had been wearing for decades, and looked completely clear. The story was that cataract surgery can restore vision. I found it fascinating and asked several times, but the answer was always the same. Is that true?
