Can I apply sunscreen immediately starting the same day after getting a laser treatment at the dermatology clinic?

When I looked up post-laser treatment care, I saw a lot of people saying that UV protection is the most important thing.

I am wondering if it is okay to apply sunscreen immediately after the procedure to irritated skin, or if it is better to avoid it for about a day.

For those of you who have had laser treatment, did you apply it starting from the same day? I would also like to know if applying sunscreen immediately after the procedure causes any stinging or discomfort.
