I have a severe scar on my knee; can it be removed?

When I was young, I got cut by the corner of an iron door and got a laceration. I had it stitched up, but because it was summer, the stitches came undone, leaving a scar where the area was open. When I touch it, it feels hollow because there is no flesh underneath. I am wondering if this kind of scar can be removed through procedures or something similar.

Even though I don't usually pay attention to it, there are times when it catches my eye and I want to get rid of it.

Has anyone had a scar treatment or surgery like mine? If so, please share.
